Bushings, sleeves and bronze bearings

Bearing and guide elements made to size: bronze bushings, steel sleeves, plastic bearings, flanged and oil-grooved types.

Types

  • Plain bushings: sliding bearings between shaft and housing.
  • Flanged bushings: with a shoulder carrying axial load.
  • Oil-grooved bushings: with lubrication grooves on the inner surface.
  • Sleeves and liners: press-fitted parts that bring a worn housing bore back to size.
  • Profiled bearings: tapered, stepped or drilled types.

Choosing the material

Bronze (CuSn12, CuAl10): low friction against a steel shaft and good wear resistance — the most common bushing material.

Brass: for lightly loaded parts where corrosion is a risk.

Steel and stainless: for hardened sleeves and food applications.

POM and PA plastics: for quiet, light, oil-free running.

Tell us the shaft diameter, the housing bore and the working temperature and we suggest the material and the fit.

Fits

Two dimensions matter: the outside diameter that goes into the housing (usually an interference fit, H7/r6) and the inside diameter that runs on the shaft (a clearance fit, H7/f7 or H8/e8). Pressing a bushing in shrinks the bore, so we machine the bore to the size it needs after fitting.

Send the old bushing as a sample and we do that calculation for you.
