Prototypes and one-offs
We make single pieces so you can test an idea, and move to series production from the same drawing once the prototype is approved.
Who is it for?
- Machine builders: testing the first part of a new design in the field.
- Maintenance teams: trying an improved version of an existing part, in another material or size.
- Engineering offices: checking fit and dimensions before assembly.
- Workshops: for the single parts their own machines cannot take.
There is no minimum order. On a single piece the set-up makes up most of the cost, so the unit price is higher than in series — the quote shows this clearly.
From prototype to series
Once the prototype is approved, series production runs from the same drawing and the unit price drops with quantity. We keep the dimensions and material of the part on file, so repeat orders are quicker.
If you changed dimensions on the prototype, just send the updated drawing — and note the revision number in the request.
What we need for a quote
- A drawing or a 3D model (STEP); a dimensioned hand sketch works too.
- Material and the purpose of the part; for a prototype we may suggest an easier material.
- Which dimensions are critical — those are checked first on the prototype.
